It’s easy to get caught up in the midst of the chaos that normally entails moving into a new home. Staying organized and making sure everything on the moving-in checklist goes as smoothly as possible can be nerve-wracking to many people. However, you certainly don’t want to miss those once-in-a-lifetime moments that come with the big day. Anything like unpacking or exploring the interior are moments you might cherish for a long time — especially if it’s your first very own house. And what better way to immortalize these moments than preserving them in the form of pixels. Make sure to charge your camera, phone, Go-Pro, or whatever else you’ll be using to capture the precious memories that lie ahead.
1. On Your Way to the New Place
To build up the hype of arriving at your new home, don’t forget to take a video on your way there. From the moment you step into the car, you’ll want to capture every street, every turn, and every crossroad until you get to the new place. If the drive is too long, you can take segments of footage every five to ten minutes and make a montage later. Make sure a family member or a friend is driving if you’re the one taking the video — you wouldn’t want to ruin your moving day with a fender bender. If you’re alone, however, you could use a Go-Pro to capture the trip to your new house. Consider mounting it on a half-opened window or somewhere on the dashboard. As you get closer to the new property, make sure to capture all the cute coffeehouses, bakeries, and diners on video.
