No matter what the style of your home is, there are tile options to fit any décor or budget. To give your kitchen an entirely new look without spending much money, consider laying a new floor of vinyl tile. If you’re reasonably handy, try purchasing self-adhesive tiles and laying them yourself. Just be careful to follow the manufacturer’s instructions to ensure a good outcome.
Ceramic or porcelain tiles are great choices for jazzing up the floor in almost any room in your home. They come in a wide variety of colors and patterns, and it’s easy to find something you like that also matches your price range. These are more difficult to install, however, so it’s best to hire a professional.
For those with a larger budget, natural stone tiles can make a dramatic difference in the appearance of floors, walls, fireplaces and other areas of your home. For a more rustic look, consider slate, limestone or travertine, all of which come in a variety of shades and surface choices. Marble and granite bring a look of refined elegance when used on countertops or floors. If you can’t afford to do an entire room in those more expensive tiles, think about replacing worn carpet in a foyer with marble. Even in a smaller space like an entryway, the look will be impressive.
