Claire’s Story
Claire was planning to remodel her bathroom, so she logged on to Contractors.com to get some information and to find contractors in her area.
She wanted to get an idea of what some of the improvements she’d been considering would cost, so she used the Cost Estimator to find out.
Claire then read some articles in the Resources section and got some new ideas about the project – like having the bath tub reglazed instead of replaced, and spending the money she’d save on heated floors. She also browsed through the Contractor Hiring Tips to prepare for hiring a contractor.
Claire then set out to find a contractor for the job. From the Contractors.com Home Page, she searched by trade, narrowed the search down to her specific project type, then entered her Postal Code to find a list of bathroom remodeling contractors in her area.
She clicked on the company names of several contractors on the list to read their profiles and view ratings by their previous customers. For a few contractors she liked, she clicked through to their websites to get more information. And those she really liked, she added to “favorites” to keep their information handy for later.
When Claire returned to Contractors.com the next day, she’d decided that instead of contacting contractors, she would get (up to four) interested contractors to contact her. So she found the job type she was looking for (bathroom remodelers), but this time she chose to submit her project. She completed the short questionnaire about the details of the project, and over the next few days she got phone calls from contractors who were interested in her project. Claire managed the whole process easily through her Contractors.com account (under My Account).
A couple of the contractors who called turned out to be ones she’d saved in her “Favorites”, so she had them give her an estimate. She went with the one she liked best, and the project was a complete success!
After the project, Claire went to Contractors.com and submitted a glowing review for her contractor, to let other homeowners in her area know what a great job they’d done. Claire was so happy, she used Contractors.com for all her future home improvement projects, and recommended it to all her friends.
THE END
